Thomas L. Carter, Jr.
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Carter is the founder of Black Stone and is currently its Chairman of the Board and CEO. Prior to the formation of Black Stone, Mr. Carter served as Managing General Partner of several predecessors to Black Stone, including W.T. Carter & Bro (1987-1992) and Black Stone Energy Company (1980-Present). W.T. Carter & Bro. was a family partnership that owned timber and mineral interests in East Texas since the late 19th century. In 1980, Mr. Carter founded Black Stone Energy Company (“BSEC”). As President of BSEC (now Black Stone’s operating and exploration subsidiary), Mr. Carter was instrumental in the discovery of the Double A Wells field in East Texas.

From 1975 to 1979, Mr. Carter worked for the Texas Commerce Bank in Houston, TX. During his first two years he worked in the Finance and Budget Planning areas and subsequently served a year as Executive Assistant to the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer. After his appointment as Executive Assistant, Mr. Carter spent the subsequent two years as a Lending Officer in the Energy Department.

Mr. Carter holds M.B.A. and B.B.A degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and he currently sits on the board of Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc., The Lawrenceville School, Episcopal High School and the Ripley Foundation.

Hallie A. Vanderhider
President and
Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Vanderhider serves as President and Chief Operating Officer. She is responsible for all activities of the company including daily operations, capital formation activities, all aspects of finance and accounting, business development, information technology, risk management and human resources. She works closely with Mr. Carter in further defining Black Stone’s strategic business plan. Prior to Black Stone, Ms. Vanderhider served as Chief Financial Officer for EnCap Investments, a leading institutional funds manager. Ms. Vanderhider also served in a variety of financial positions, most recently as Chief Accounting Officer for Damson Oil Corporation, a publicly traded oil and gas company. Ms. Vanderhider began her career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche.

Ms. Vanderhider received a B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the Houston Producers’ Forum, Houston Energy Finance, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Association for Financial Professionals.

Stephen M. Guidry
Sr. VP, Operations
Mr. Guidry is Senior Vice President of Operations for Black Stone Minerals Company, L.P. He is responsible for the land and technical departments in the Company. Prior to joining Black Stone in April 2006, Mr. Guidry served two-and-a-half years as Regional Land Manager for Southwestern Energy Company. Prior to joining Southwestern, Mr. Guidry served 13 years (1987-2000) in various roles with IP Petroleum Company, Inc.. He worked three years with Pure Resources, as Land Manager and Asset Manager for its Southeast Onshore Region. From 1979 through 1987, he served as a Division Landman for Celeron Oil and Gas Company, an independent E&P company in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Mr. Guidry received a B.B.A. in Production Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana). He is a member of the Independent Producers Association of America, American Association of Professional Landmen, and several local Landman’s Associations.

R. Marc Carroll
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Carroll joined Black Stone in September 2004 and currently serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the finance and accounting functions, investor relations, credit relations, portfolio valuation, investor reporting and planning and analysis. Prior to Black Stone, Mr. Carroll was employed by El Paso Corporation in several positions, including Natural Gas Trader and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis. Prior to El Paso, Mr. Carroll served in various other positions at several Houston-based energy companies.

Mr. Carroll is a Certified Public Accountant and received a B.B.A in Accounting and a B.B.A. in Business Analysis from Texas A&M University. He received his M.B.A. from Rice University. He is a member of the Houston Producers’ Forum and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Marshall M. Eubank
VP, Business Development
Mr. Eubank is Vice President of Business Development. His responsibilities include all aspects of acquisitions, including sourcing transactions, financial evaluation and due diligence. Prior to joining Black Stone in 2002, Mr. Eubank served as a Director in Enron North America’s upstream and oil field service financing unit from 1997 through 2001. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Eubank served as a Vice President at EnCap Investments, L.P. where he managed investment banking projects and direct project equity investments in small upstream companies. Mr. Eubank began his career at Dean Witter Reynolds and McKenna & Company.

Mr. Eubank received his B.S. in Commerce from Washington and Lee University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Houston Energy Finance and Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association.

Mark E. Robinson
VP, Land and Legal
Mr. Robinson is Vice President of Land and Legal, responsible for leasing and other land matters. Prior to joining Black Stone in 2004, Mr. Robinson worked as a Senior Attorney for Sonat Exploration Company from 1991 to January 2000, when Sonat merged with El Paso. He remained at El Paso from January 2000 until December 2004. While at Sonat and El Paso, Mr. Robinson handled all of Sonat’s and El Paso’s downstream and midstream activities within his areas of responsibility, in connection with oil and gas operations in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Prior to Sonat, Mr. Robinson worked in private law practice in Shreveport, Louisiana for 12 years.

Mr. Robinson received his J.D. degree from Louisiana State University in 1978. He is licensed to practice law in the states of Louisiana and Texas.

Derryl E. Millican
VP, Engineering
Mr. Millican is Vice President of Engineering. He is responsible for all aspects of engineering including reserve reporting, capital budgeting and new opportunity evaluation. Prior to joining Black Stone, Mr. Millican worked as a Business Advisor for Mobil Oil Corporation responsible for developing producing opportunities in Russia, Qatar, and China. During seventeen years with Mobil Mr. Millican served as Engineer, Technical Supervisor, Technical Manager, and Business Advisor both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining Mobil Mr. Millican worked for Phillips Petroleum and Chevron on fields in the Mid-Continent and Western United States.

Mr. Millican received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1969. He is a thirty year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
